Review of Jacó
Jacó is one of
the places with more development in Costa Rica.
Ever since it
was created in 1980, the city of Jacó and its
environs have experienced a fast growth, mainly in
tourist infrastructure. Their location near San
José, having 60 km of coast, with his beautiful
beaches, the topographic variety, the biological
reserve Carara, its river, manglares and the
amiability of people, make of Garabito the preferred
site of tourists and national and foreign investors.
The people living in Jacó can enjoy a clean
atmosphere, pure air, space opened, excellent views
and calm neighbourhoods.
El name is a
memory of the heroic and indómito Garabito, main
cacique of the Huetar kingdom of the West, that in
the beginnings of the conquest resided in the valley
where the city of San Ramon is located today, whose
dominions included/understood towards the West of
the Virilla river.
Don Carlos
Gagini in its work "the natives of Costa Rica"
indicates that the word is of indigenous origin
Garabee or Garabú, that means in tarahúmara "mejor".
